Our Counsellor

Hello, my name is Cath, as a Pluralistic Counsellor/Psychotherapist I now work with clients experiencing problems in life such as, but not limited to trauma, anxiety, depression, PTSD, relational issues and addiction.
Working pluralistically means that I will focus on working with you collaboratively to create a space that you feel comfortable and safe enough in to explore the problems in life you may be facing. I aim to cater to your unique needs, and help you to discover and then explore a diversity of ways in which you can heal and grow.

A pluralistic perspective means simply that I don't have a fixed approach. I work flexibly, adapting and utilising different approaches in counselling, such as person-centred, psychodynamic, CBT, or solution focused to name a few, in order to create a bespoke therapeutic environment catered to your needs.

I strongly believe that in life we do the best we can with what we have, I feel that sometimes having some support as we explore or discover our own strengths, or add to them, is key to enriching ourselves as we look for ways in which to live our best lives.

If you think I can work with you as you strive to make sense of issues in your life, please do get in touch.

Qualifications

I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy), and I have an MSc in Pluralistic counselling. I have also completed a counselling skills certificate from COSCA (counselling and psychotherapy in Scotland) and a counselling people towards behaviour change course from COSA in conjunction with SACC ( Scottish Alcohol Counselling Consortium).
Some of my previous professional experience includes recruitment and assessment work, project management around the delivery and implementation of Scottish Government funded ventures focused on community based projects, and hostage and crisis intervention/negotiation work. I have worked with both statutory services and charitable partnerships over recent years in various roles, with the most recent being as an Outreach Development Manager.
